<p>Diet pills, which are also commonly called appetite suppressants, have been prescribed by doctors since the 1950s. When they were first introduced to the public, the majority of diet pills contained amphetamine which is otherwise known as speed. This drug is highly addictive and doctors quickly realized that appetite suppressants that contained it would not prove to be the remarkable weight loss solution they were searching for.</p>

Soon afterwards, doctors started combining a drug called phentermine with fenfluramine to form the now infamous fen-phen diet pill. Anyone who has paid attention in the last two decades will remember how badly that turned out.</p>
<p>Like all other drugs, weight loss drugs must be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) before doctors can legally prescribe them to their patients.<br />
Not to mention that in addition to approving the drugs for human use, the FDA is also responsible for constantly monitoring the effects that such medications have on the health of the people who take them.</p>
<p>As a way to deal with the constant need for FDA approval and regulation, the active ingredient that is often used in many diet pills is not a drug anymore.</p>
<p>Instead, these products typically consist of naturally occurring herbs and are sold without a prescription over the counter. That might sound like Greek to you, but fiber is an important part of our daily diet, and a high fiber diet might be perfect for your body.</p>

For just 2 grams of fiber, you could eat 1 small apple, 1 peach, 1 small banana, 2 prunes, 16 large cherries, or a number of other fruits. Grains also contain fiber. For 2 grams of fiber, simply try 1 slice of whole wheat bread, 2 slices of cracked wheat bread, 1 cup of cooked oatmeal, 2 cups of popped popcorn, or 1/4 of a cup of corn bran. </p>
<p>If you are on a low-carb diet, you can try eating cooked vegetables to provide your body with adequate fiber. For 2 grams of fiber, eat 1/2 of a cup of broccoli, 1 cup of celery, 1/2 of a cup of carrots, 1 small potato, 1 large tomato, or a variety of beans. Beans, or any type of legume, are the real powerhouses for fiber. By only eating 1/2 of a cup of kidney beans, 1 cup of dried peas or lentils, or 1/2 of a cup of canned baked beans, you can provide your body with a whopping 8 grams of fiber.  If all else fails, small amounts of fiber can also be found in peanuts, walnuts, and pickles, so there is really no excuse for not getting enough fiber in your diet!</p>

<p>Well the Wii Fit plus is in my opinion the perfect Christmas gift for 2009. <p>I know the holidays are a rough time for many, worried about parties with food and drink at every turn. So you need to stack the odds in your favour, if your going to buy a games console buy the Wii.</p>
<p>When I bought my Wii Fit plus it was the combined present from me to my partner Noeleen and her gift to me. Now I do have to let her win sometimes but we have a lot of fun playing the games together.</p>

<p>She’s actually picked to get an all star medal this year which I have to say I’m very proud of her.</p>

<p>Eventually, almost everyone is going to be inclined to try and lose some weight. Losing weight will not only make you feel and look better, but it will increase your self esteem and confidence. A good initial target for most people is to lose 10 pounds. By creating a routine of activity and diet, most people will be able to lose 10 pounds with little trouble.</p>
<p>As anyone who has tried it knows, one of the hardest things about a weight loss regimen is just that: the regimen. The reasons most diets and exercise routines fail is simply because they are difficult to stick to. One of the best things you can do to avoid this pitfall is to come up with a realistic plan before you attempt to lose 10 pounds, and to incorporate that plan into your daily routine.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s important that you do your own research to come up with a plan that works for you, but as an example let&#8217;s consider the following: let&#8217;s say to lose 10 pounds your plan calls for 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week, and to cook 3 new and healthy meals a week.</p>
<p>None of these things should be particularly cumbersome, but if you fail to plan and organize them into your routine it will be easy for them to fall by the wayside.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s start with the exercise. If you want to exercise 30 minutes a day, when are you going to do it? Don&#8217;t just say to yourself &#8220;whenever I can squeeze it in&#8221; as that is a guarantee that it will get squeezed out.</p>
<p>Depending on your job and family responsibilities, it&#8217;s going to be best for you to either exercise before work, at work, or after work. Exercising before or after work could entail using a stationary bike while watching TV!</p>
<p>While exercise at work could be taking a brisk walk during your lunch hour! Whatever choice you make, make sure you stick to it. In order to lose 10 pounds you have to think of this exercise as part of your daily routine, as regular as anything else you do throughout an average day. If you don&#8217;t do this, the exercise will become an &#8220;extra&#8221; thing you do, and will be the first thing dropped from your agenda when you get busy.</p>
<p>Now let&#8217;s look at the diet in this example. You&#8217;re going to lose 10 pounds by making 3 new meals a week. Again, this has to be planned and part of your routine.</p>
<p>Decide what days you&#8217;re going to cook them, decide what (earlier) days you&#8217;re going to plan them and shop for them. If you fail to do this you&#8217;ll find that you simply don&#8217;t have the time for 3 new meals a week. And the problem, of course, is that most of us really don&#8217;t &#8220;have time&#8221; for anything, so unless we make the time, it&#8217;s not going to happen.</p>
<p>To lose 10 pounds is not as difficult as many people may think, and be careful to not get completely wrapped up in the ideas of diet and exercise. While these things are the fundamental tools to losing weight, they won&#8217;t work if not properly incorporated into your daily routine.</p>

<p>Stretching is often a necessary exercise to perform and is especially important when it comes to physical fitness.  Those that do not get in enough stretching are likely to find themselves facing the risk of injury as well as the loss of range of motion.  The goal of stretching is quite simple.</p>
<p>By providing a stretch to the muscle, the range of motion of the joint will be increased to some degree.  To do this, individuals will apply tension and force to the muscle area in order to lengthen the muscle.  The muscle is also strengthened during this time.  The muscles are more capable of providing for the activity that is required.</p>
<p>When it’s Necessary</p>
<p>It is not always necessary to stretch.  In fact, many individuals will tell you that they simple don’t do it and they don’t find themselves injured.  But, most athletes and doctors will recommend some type of stretching any time that you will be doing physically demanding exercises. </p>
<p>For instance, those conditions in which your body needs to be extended and flexible may be the ideal times when you will apply stretching techniques to them. </p>
<p>For example, during long running, acrobatics, martial arts and even for ballet, the body needs to be able to increase its range of motion to do more than what is normally does.  Without this stretching the body is quite limited to what is can accomplish.</p>
<p>To Keep From Getting Hurt</p>
<p>Another reason that stretching is used is to increase the body’s ability to keep from becoming injured.  Stretching can prevent injury to various aspects of your body including ligaments, tendons and muscles fibers. </p>
<p>This is the case because stretching helps to make the muscles more elastic.  As it becomes more elastic, it reduces the stretch reflex in the greater ranges of motion that you will use it that may otherwise cause an injury to happen to you.</p>
<p>Stretching is something that should be done because it can help you to perform to a fuller degree as well as to help you to prevent injury.  If you don’t stretch enough, you may not be able to perform as well with the type of activities that you are looking for.  Stretching in the right manner is almost a requirement for safety, too.</p>
